In a HackDay, developers, architects, engineers, sales people
and every interested employee devote their time and intelligence to working together experimenting, analyzing, creating or improving technical applications of their choice for 24 consecutive hours. There’s only one rule: no slides or powerpoints, just working software!
Each year hackers get a chance to show off their skills in a 24-hour friendly competition. The spirit behind HackDay came from Sabre Travel Studios as a way for employees to express creativity and their resolve to bring forth possibilities within a compressed development timeframe.
Participants are encouraged to build their own teams to create their hack. Some groups even work around the clock so as to be able to present their work when the time runs out
and all the hacks are presented to a judge who decides the winners.
HackDay is a great example of how we encourage and support our creative talent to develop new, innovative and leading edge ideas.
